CHILDREN’S DENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS DAY

In partnership with Cavity Free Sonoma, Pediatric Dental Initiative, Center for Well-Being and Redwood Community Health Coalition, Sonoma Valley Community Health Center will be hosting Children’s Dental Health Awareness Day in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month.

The objective of this event is to promote children’s dental and oral health. Parents will learn about when children should have their first dental visit, ways to prevent early childhood caries, when to expect changes from primary to permanent teeth, proper brushing and flossing techniques, importance of dental sealants.

There will be kid’s activities, including a Rethink Your Drink presentation.

COVERED CA OPEN ENROLLMENT EVENT

In partnership with La Luz Center, Redwood Community Health Coalition and Sonoma County Human Services, Sonoma Valley Community Health Center will be hosting a Covered CA Open Enrollment event on Saturday, January 11 from 9am-2pm.

Attendees will need proof of Photo IDs, Income (Current Tax information & last pay stubs), Proof of Citizen/lawful presence, Social Security Numbers/ITIN, and Birth dates of all members on tax forms to enroll in Covered California.

The Covered CA Open Enrollment deadline is January 31st. People who enroll before January 15th may have coverage start by February 1st.

PARTY TIME, HEALTHIER HOLIDAYS Class will take place Wednesday, December 4th from 5:30pm- 7:15pm. This class is part of the CERES Community Project’s Nutrition for Wellness Program. Each class includes a mini lecture and hands on session healthy meal preparation. Classes are AT NO COST and WALK-INS are welcome.

Covered CA Open Enrollment period is here. Please make sure to renew or enroll by December 15, 2019 to begin coverage on January 1, 2020. To begin coverage February 1, 2020 make sure to enroll by January 15, 2020.   Enrollment period will end January 31, but coverage would not begin until March 1, 2020. Please note that the state will be implementing a state penalty in 2021 for those without insurance during 2020.

This event is a collaboration between SVCHC, Sonoma Sheriff’s Office, NC Prep Culture and Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about emergency preparedness and will be entered in a drawing to win a emergency starter kit. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about enrollment and any changes for Open Enrollment 2020 regarding Covered CA, Medicare as well as of Medi-cal. Back to School Fair

Students and parents prepare for a healthy and successful academic year at the annual Back to School Health Fair on Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please check back for additional details regarding event location.

Students and parents prepare for a healthy and successful academic year at the annual Back to School Health Fair on Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at Altamira Middle School.

The free event is presented by the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center in partnership with Sonoma Valley Hospital, La Luz Center, Dragones Latinxs, The Club Maxwell Village, 4C’s of Sonoma County, Valley of the Moon Lions Club and FISH of Sonoma Valley.

The day covers a range of health services and activities, including: fluoride treatments; TDAP vaccines; health education and healthy snacks; vision and posture screenings; Fun Zone, educational presentations; complimentary food and school supplies giveaways. The fair is bilingual and is open to all Sonoma Valley students.

Attendance and completion of the Back to School Health Fair passport are required in order to receive a free backpack filled with age appropriate school supplies. The TDAP vaccine will be available for entering seventh graders. No appointments are necessary. A parent must be present to sign the consent forms for all screenings and vaccines.

The school supply drive continues through August 2. Donations of the school supplies will be accepted at the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center, 19270 Sonoma Hwy or the Sonoma Staples store at 977 W Napa St.
